We went through some hard times in 2020-2022 but hope that the new season will be much kinder to us. Support you club and your newsletter with active participation because we cannot survive without that.
There are several committee positions open such as Secretary, Public Events Coordinator (have one, can use another), Salon Show Coordinator (have one, can use another). If interested in any of these positions, please let Dawn or Lazlo know
the videos of our previous meetings
is finished. Thank you Jeff Breitman for your hard work on the project, selecting the pictures, putting it altogether, arranging the printing, etc.
Get in touch with Jeff if you want a copy of the book.
The coming season we will compete in NECCC interclub competitions in the
Nature and Pictorial categories.
These competitions stay the same as last year. We enter 4 images from 4
different members in the Nature and Pictorial competition.
We also compete in the PSA interclub competitions.
PSA is starting this year a Black and White competition, we will compete
in the Pictorial and Black and White categories this year, and NOT in the
Travel category anymore.
In the PSA competitions we enter 6 images from 6 different members.
I will start asking for NECCC’s Nature and Pictorial images in September,
and for PSA’s Pictorial and Black and White images in October.
Get ready and start collecting your images now.

Our first meeting was a success, fall is here, the weather is cooler
and we even managed to get some rain this past week. So, we have a lot
to be thankful for! Many members were able to attend the first meeting
and enjoy the wonderful member showcases. Such variety of photos, topics
and styles. After the meeting, I sent all members the updated HCC Handbook
as well as a listing of the Committee positions with notations of which
positions still need to be filled. If you are able to contribute to
the running of the club, please let me know. We could use a few more
hands to help organize field trips, schedule programs and assist with
salon shows. We Need You!!
As discussed, we are looking for some ideas for field trips. With the
cool weather, it isa good time to get out and explore with our cameras.
Let Lazlo or myself know if you have any ideas and we will send out
an email to club members to see if there is interest. Also let us know
if there are fall festivals and events you are aware of that you think
the club would enjoy to photograph.
At our October meeting, Jeff will provide a photo travel log on Jekyll
Island, a Georgia Barrier Island and Cape Cod. The meeting will take
place at Noble Horizons. We will likely need to follow the same health
check at the entrance (temperature check and a few questions, and masks
in common areas and hallway; however, masks are optional in Meeting
room itself). For those who attended the September meeting, thank you
for your cooperation with this. Lana at Noble was appreciative that
we were able to do this. Don’t forget to give Lazlo content for the
newsletter. A short article, links to useful information related to
photography, Tips, pictures…all are welcome. Hope to see you all at
the October meeting! Happy shooting until then.
Fall is one of the most beautiful times of year
in the North East. From early September to late October, we are blessed with
magnificent colors everywhere. With the very dry summer, the colors may not
be quite as brilliant as past years but I’m sure if we look hard enough, we
can find the beauty in the season. Here are a few tips for photographing fall
foliage:
1. Take advantage of the variety of colors – try getting pictures that
have a wide range of hues and textures.
2. Take advantage of scattered leaves that can add beauty throughout
an already beautiful landscape.
3. Take advantage of the combination of water and foliage – whether it
be fog among the trees, reflections in the water or leaves in a stream.
4. Take advantage of the cold, crisp mornings – frost on the leaves can
be beautiful.
5. Take advantage of the light on the leaves – leaves still on the tree,
leaves on the ground, or leaves floating in a stream – the light reflecting
off the warm tones can be breathtaking.
6. Don’t’ be afraid to try black and white.
W e hope you've enjoyed taking part in our Photo Challenge. You managed
to capture some incredible shots! Are you ready for the next round? It will
be "All the Leaves are brown and..."
