For our November Meeting, Bert Sirkin gave us a Zoom presentation titled “How AI is changing Photography”. AI also known as “artificial intelligence” is a machine’s ability to perform the cognitive functions we associate with human minds. AI is well-trained but it “doesn’t have common sense and it isn’t always right”. If you do any form of photo processing using tools such as Photoshop, you may have already used a form of AI and not realized it. Have you ever used Photoshop’s generative fill and expand feature? Also, AI is trained using real images….likely including some of your images!
Our December meeting is fast approaching. For our December meeting – Wednesday December 13th - we will have our Holiday party which will have a “Country | Western” theme. Get your creative juices flowing and come dressed in your best attire that best represents the theme. There will be prizes for best dressed as well as other raffles for prizes. Happy Hour begins at 5pm followed by dinner at 6pm and our meeting at 7:30pm. HCC will provide the main dishes and members are encouraged to bring their drinks and a dish to share. Please remember to sign up for the pot-luck so we can make sure we have enough food. Spouses and Partners are welcome!
For our December program, members are encouraged to bring in 1-2 print photos to discuss with members….sort of a ‘show and tell” to discuss perspective, technique, equipment used, etc.
Our salon show will soon be coming in January 2024. Start thinking about what photos you’d like to present. Remember to submit new work (photos not previously shown at Noble OR surrounding areas).
Hope to see you at the holiday party. In the meantime, happy shooting.

In Surreal Belgium, your beer gets poured for you in the perfect way : 2 fingers only for the foam
In Paris, tree are now in Plastic and in Brussels,... there is an apple on the roof of the Magritte Museum
I took this pictures at the now decomissioned Ansonia Brass Company in Ansonia, Connecticut. It used to be one of the largest brass manufacturing company in the US, but together with the other heavy industrial jobs they left the country in the later part of the last century. I have many more pictures

During my decades as a conservation photographer in South Carolina, one of the themes I explored was our rapidly eroding coast. Now with climate change and rising seas the Lowcountry is at the epicenter of East Coast flooding. Entire coastal maritime forests are being inundated and dying from salt water intrusion. What’s left are skeletal trees starkly standing in the tidal surf. These “boneyard beaches” are surreal and a testament to our coastal fragility and changing landscape.
New Orleans, also known as ‘The Big Easy’ is a Louisiana city on the Mississippi River. It is known for its vibrant, live-music nightlife scene and spicy cuisine. Rick and I visited NOLO in October with a group of friends. This was my 3rd time to NEW Orleans and not much has changed.
We stayed at the Dauphine Hotel just a couple of blocks from Bourbon Street. Sidewalks and Streets are in rough shape so if you visit, be careful not to twist an ankle! We walked about 7-8 miles each day. Our favorite place was Bamboulas and The Spotted Cat … 2 great places for food and live music down on Frenchmen Street. We also tried a ghost tour which was interesting’.
If you visit, keep an open mind and enjoy the local culture and cuisine! You won’t be disappointed.
