The coming season we will compete in NECCC interclub competitions in the
Nature and Pictorial categories. These competitions stay the same as last
year. We enter 4 images from 4 different members in the Nature and Pictorial
competition. More info here:

We also compete in the PSA interclub competitions. For 2023-24 PSA Interclub,
the standard file size will be 1920 x1080 with clubs still able to enter
their images using the 1400 x1050 size until they are ready to switch to
today’s standard size of 1920 x 1080. We will compete in the Pictorial and
Black and White categories this year once more again. In the PSA competitions
we enter 6 images from 6 different members. I will start asking for NECCC’s

This season’s Holiday Dinner was a great success. The theme was “Country | Western” and the decorations, selfie station with props, costumes and plenty of raffles provided the perfect backdrop for a fun filled evening. Thank you to all who attended, brought food and helped with the setup and clean-up. It was a rootin’ tootin’ success! See pictures !
We have our Noble Show fast approaching. The bios will be finalized soon so if you plan on participating this year, please let Gail know if you need any changes to your Bio. If we don’t hear from you, we will use the one we have on file from last year. Also send Gail the list of your photos with titles and prices so we can forward this information to Danielle at Noble. Drop off dates to Noble are January 8th - 14th between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Remember – all new work is expected and each photo must be presented with 2 HCC labels. The folks at Noble will make the final decision of which photos are hung. The opening reception is Friday, January 19th from 4:00 pm -6:00 pm. Please attend if you can and invite your family and friends. A great way to start off the New Year!
With the start of the New Year, I am hoping we can look back over the past year and ask ourselves “What went well this year?” “What could be done differently?” Please feel free to present ideas of how to make our club better, sign-up new members and get everyone engaged. I look forward to your suggestions and hope to see you at the Noble reception on the 19th!

It has It has already been a couple of weeks ago that I had the privilege to share some of my insights of what it takes to bring efficient education for sustainable development at the Dubai Innovation center that is also the location of an amazing exhibition on the Key milestones of the Dubai Electricity and Water authority. That site is also the home of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, that is some 30 square miles large.
This was of course during the COP28 summit, also known as the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties and expo, that expected some 70,000 people in attendance.
There were two main sections: the Blue zone, where you needed special accreditation from the United Nations to enter and then the Green zone, more democratic as open to the public.
I submerged myself in visiting several of the expo’s and also took the time to visit the museum of the future, quite the gem on many levels.
The attached pictures will also show you some of the beautiful edifices we visited in Abu Dhabi: the Louvre Museum with an astounding architectural design by Jean Nouvel and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
To our Club members: happy New Year.
My interest in photographing abandoned factories and buildings started up when I met with
Ted Roth, a photographer/writer/historian. Together we have photographed many of these old places during the last 15 years or so. Each abandoned location tells a tale of its own, and I find a lots of joy in exploring and preserving these moments through my lens.
