A winning image is not always one that wins a competition. It may be one that has appeal to consumers or one that is worthy of being displayed in your home. Regardless of the definition we choose, all winning images have impact. This program will define impact and discuss how to create images that make a connection with the viewer, evoke an emotion, illustrate a concept or new idea, or perhaps show something new to the viewer. From composing our images to enhancing them in post processing, we can share our vision and communicate with our audience. Finally, we will explore the stages we experience in our photographic journey and how we can take our photography to the next level.

Church of Christ parish house in Cornwall. It is scheduled starting on Sept

Proud member of:
Welcome to another fantastic year with our photography
club! As we celebrate our 67th year, we’re thrilled to welcome new members.
This season promises to be extraordinary with a lineup of inspiring speakers,
engaging field trips, and several captivating salon shows. We will have a mixture
of in-person and Zoom meetings. Whether you’re here to hone your craft, share
your passion, or simply connect with fellow enthusiasts, there’s something exciting
for everyone. We can’t wait to embark on this creative journey together and
see where our lenses take us!
For our first meeting, we will present our
Member Showcases where members are encouraged to share their work in any format
they’d like – slideshow, video, or print. Presentations should be no more than
5 minutes per member. The meeting will be in person at Noble Horizons in the
Cobble building.
Our first salon show of the season is scheduled for mid-September.
If you are participating, please send a list of Titles and Prices to Lazlo and
Gail. Please refer to the
General Guidelines
for Preparing Photos for the salon shows which is available on our website.
We will once again participate in photography competitions with other clubs
affiliated with NECCC and PSA. For these competitions, we’ll be focusing on
two categories: black and white and pictorial. We will not participate in the
Nature category this year. Our first competition will be in October so start
preparing your submissions.
I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Housatonic, Mass.was formed in the early
1800s around textile and paper mills. At its peak, Monument Mills, a textile
manufacturer, occupied five factory buildings totaling 420,000 square feet (39,000
m2) and had 500 employees. Mill workers, many of whom were immigrants, were
housed in tenements. Perspective map of Housatonic from 1890 with list of landmarks
by L.R. Burleigh Monument Mills closed in 1956. After undergoing a period of
decline, the village has been revitalized by the presence of art galleries and
related commercial activity. The town's Ramsdell Public Library is located in
Housatonic. Monument Mills and Rising Paper Mill are listed on the National
Register of Historic Places.
Organized by Brian Wilcox some members of
our camera club recently visited Mary Dell Farm in Sharon, capturing the beauty
of its rolling pastures and charming barns and the cows in place ( front and
back side). Members enjoyed photographing the farm's scenic landscapes, vibrant
flowers, and rustic details. The trip offered a perfect blend of nature and
creativity, inspiring everyone to explore new perspectives through their lenses.
Gail and I took a tour of Scotland this
past Spring, Edinburgh up to the Highlands - Edinburgh was a lot of fun, but
our biggest and pleasant surprise was the "Capital" of the Highlands, Inverness,
a small and charming city. Our hotel was just off the river and near a beautiful
churchyard on a hill overlooking the city - we took walks along the river and
I tried to capture the evenings "magic light" on the scenic bridges that cross
the river, and the historic buildings on either side.
This was a guided
Rick Steves tour - so we followed Scottish history, toured battlefields and
churches destroyed in religious conflicts, boated on Loch Ness (missed the monster),
stopped to take pictures of the rolling hills and stark landscapes. Scotch Whiskey
tasting, of course and even a bit of Harry Potter history in Edinburgh.
We had a wonderful local guide, and a very nice tour group. We enjoyed it so
much that we are taking another of his tours next Spring to Scandinavia - and
very much looking forward to it.
