Announcements

2025-2026 season is here.

Our next show will be at the the Noble Horizons starting on January 16. We are looking for more people to help with salon shows. Training will be provided 😉😵‍💫😝🤣

From Heidi Hoeller:We are excited to invite you to HCC's Annual Holiday Party and Meeting at Noble Horizons on December 9th, 2025 starting at 5 PM! This year’s theme is "Ugly Sweater", so don your most festive attire and ugliest sweater and get ready for a fun evening together.

This season NECCC and PSA completions The Housatonic Camera Club will again compete this coming season in the NECCC and PSA interclub competitions.
The NECCC Digital interclub Competition will have “Open”, and “Nature” categories.
The maximum image size for the NECCC competition will this year increase to 1920 x 1080 pixels.
We will sent the four highest scoring images from our internal scoring to the NECCC Competition.
Be aware that NECCC does not allow any "Nature" subject in the color competition.
Regarding "AI", it seems it will not being allowed in the competition images, but they are still putting the new rules on their website and when they have finished I hope to sent everyone a link to these "Rules".
The PSA Digital Interclub Competition will have "Color" and Monochrome categories. The maximum image size stays 1920 x 1080 pixels and all subjects are allowed in both categories. We will sent the six highest scoring images from our internal scoring to the PSA Competition.
PSA is also writing new rules about using "AI" in competition images and I hope to send links to those rules in the future.
We hope that many members participate this year and use these competitions to show each other our images.
Happy shooting
Bert

Some building pictures from my travels by Lloyd Baroody

Rue Rivoli in Paris in 1970: I was 17 years old, and I had purchased a Eurorail train pass to tour most of Western Europe using my travel guide, "Europe on $10 per day." I have since been to Paris perhaps 200 more times. It's the most beautiful city in the world - by far! The shot has vintage colors, and the classic Paris buildings and autos from the period give me a strong nostalgic feeling of the post-WWII era in Europe. I recall it like it was just yesterday. And I miss it.

Savannah Georgia - 2022: Savannah is arguably the classiest city in the US. Imagine stepping into the "Gone with the Wind" era.

Taj Mahal - 2017. Zeina and I traversed all of India with a driver, of course making a rather mandatory stop in Agra, home city of the famous Taj Mahal. There are many classic photos of the Taj, however this one is special, because it gives one a glimpse of the grandeur that is about to come in just a few more footsteps. And yes, the Taj was everything it was cracked up to be.

President's message by Dawn Dingee

For our November Meeting, Phil Atiyeh gave us a Zoom presentation titled “Four Creative Techniques that will Rock Your World”. If you are looking for something new, try out some of Phil’s techniques. It will take ordinary photos and turn them into something out of this world! If you missed his presentation, you can find a recording on our website. From the Quick Links, select Meeting Videos.
Our December meeting is fast approaching. For our December meeting – Tuesday December 9 th - we will have our Holiday party which will have an “Ugly Sweater” theme. Get your creative juices flowing and come dressed in your best attire that best represents the theme. There will be prizes for best dressed as well as other raffles for prizes including
the 50/50. We also have some fun game in store for you with prizes! Happy Hour begins at 5pm followed by dinner at 6pm and our meeting at 7:30pm. HCC will provide the main dishes and members are encouraged to bring their drinks and a dish to share. Please remember to sign up for the pot-luck so we can make sure we have enough food. Spouses and Partners are welcome!
For our December program, members are encouraged to bring in 1-2 print photos to discuss with members….sort of a ‘show and tell” to discuss perspective, technique, equipment used, etc.
Our Noble Horizons’ salon show will soon be coming in January 2026. Start thinking about what photos you’d like to present. Remember to submit new work (photos not previously shown at Noble OR surrounding areas).
Hope to see you at the holiday party. In the meantime, happy shooting

Dawn
