President's Message by Dawn Dingee

It’s shaping up to be a busy month for HCC! Our Noble Horizon’s Show is underway. Our show opening was well attended. The Lakeville Journal press was there and wrote up a very nice review of our show. Thank you Steve and Gail for handling the press for the evening. The show will be up through February 23rd. Word on the street is that we already sold two photos so nice start! Work has already begun on our next show which will be at the Scoville Memorial Library in March. Members can submit up to 3 photos that represent the theme – “Local: Illuminating the Character of Place or Community”. Please look for details in your email as we put this show together.
Don’t forget to submit your photos for the Winter PSA competition. Photos should be submitted by sundown Friday, January 31, 2025. Voting will begin shortly after that date. Even if you don’t have photos in the competition, you are welcome to vote and comment on photos.
Or next program will be an in-person presentation by member Jack Kearney. He will be presenting an introduction to post-processing using Lightroom/Adobe Camera Raw. He will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of shooting JPEG versus RAW, and how each affects the power of post- processing, among other things. I’m looking forward to it; I hope you are too. Until then, Happy Shooting!

Time stood still in Copenhagen by Pamela Peeters

A short city trip to Copenhagen this past January presented itself because my husband and I had been invited to give some lectures. Since we always like to add culture and gastronomy to the mix, we enjoyed this urban escapade that seemed like a bit of time travel to a land of magic and wonder.
Soft winter drizzles orchestrated great conditions for photographing shadows and wet cobble stones created some exquisite mirror moments too. When the rain set in, art galleries offered a nice opportunity to find refuge and inspiration for artistic compositions. Curiosity on how youth is catered to science education whisked me to the Experimentarium as well, with no nonsense dissections and interactive fun for all age groups. Enjoy these photographic impressions and feel inspired to add the city of Copenhagen to your list as well.
