President's Message by Dawn Dingee

Another season is coming to an end. This past season has been a very successful one. We’ve had some great speakers, participated in several salon shows, signed up many new members and partnered with the Scoville Library for a joint show and presentation. A big thank you to the many members who worked this season to make it a success! To celebrate the end of our season, we will have a picnic at Kent Falls, CT on Tuesday June 17 th beginning at 5:30. You are welcome to bring guests. The club will provide the main course but members are encouraged to sign up for the pot-luck for side dishes and dessert. And DON’T FORGET A CHAIR! Although our season officially ends in June, we will still be planning some things over the summer. In August, we will have our booth at the Sharon-On-The-Green Craft fair. This is a great opportunity for us to sign up new members. More details will follow. We also have the opportunity to have a salon show at Sharon Hospital. Details are still being worked out. As we have more information, we will send them via email. The committee will start planning our program for next season. If you have any ideas for speakers or would like to do a presentation yourself, please let me know. I hope to see you at the picnic!

A tourist in my birthplace Antwerp by Pamela Peeters

While I’m born in Antwerp, and most of my family originates from this cosmopolitan city, I’ve never lived there, so it’s always extra special to not only be a tourist for one day but a tourist for two days, including spending a night at a hotel. Through this little Antwerp extravaganza, I am sharing some pictures of the famous Cathedral, and will also offer a little introduction into the grand Fine Arts Museum of Antwerp, where curators designed some very interesting rooms where old and new are blended together, Belgian style. Note the live restoration of a Ruben’s masterpiece, the two laughing men stuck on the wall, and the Dutch poem projected onto my hand. So next time you plan a visit to my home country, Belgium, don’t hesitate to knock on my door for the insiders tips.
