We went through some hard times in 2020-2022 but hope that the new season will be much kinder to us. Support you club and your newsletter with active participation because we cannot survive without that.
There are several committee positions open such as Secretary, Public Events Coordinator (have one, can use another), Salon Show Coordinator (have one, can use another). If interested in any of these positions, please let Dawn or Lazlo know
The opening reception of the "What We See" salon show took place on March 4th. This show features 50+ photos from 13 HCC members. The opening reception was a lively event attended by many HCC members, their friends, family, people-about-town and friends of the gallery. Members were able to talk about their photographs, their style and photography in general. Wine and refreshments were provided by the gallery owners. If you missed the opening reception, you can still visit the show through April 30th. Visit the Souterrain Gallery website for opening times at - https://www.souterraingallery.net/. The Souterrain Gallery has graciously offered to host another party. Call it a second opening, a closing or just a spring welcome party and a celebration of our members and their work. Please try to attend and bring a guest or two on Saturday, April 22nd from 3:00-5::00 pm.

Spring weather has finally arrived! Hopefully
we've seen the last of the snow for this year. Six years ago this month we actually
received 2 feet of snow in a single storm! Let's hope that doesn't happen again!
The salon show at the Souterrain Gallery is up through April 30th. A closing
reception will be held on Saturday, April 22nd from 3:00-5:00. Additional details
about the opening and closing reception can be found here in the newsletter.
I also provided some pictures from the opening.
I will soon be sending an email out with potential field trips and dates. Please
respond if you're interested in any of them. Also let me know if the proposed
dates don't work. Hopefully we can agree on a couple of outings so we can enjoy
the weather, enjoy shooting, as well as each other's company.
Our April meeting will be in person at Noble Horizons. The committee is still
working on the program as we needed to make some last minute changes so hopefully
we can provide details soon. Until then, Happy Shooting!

On a nice sunny day at the end of February my wife, Chris and myself went to see the exhibitions at the Museum of American Art in New Britain. As we stepped inside we were instantly drawn to the vibrant paintings and sculptures that adorned the walls. The works of iconic artists like Edward Hopper and Georgia O'Keeffe were proudly displayed, captivating us with their bold colors and imaginative designs. In addition they had special exhibitions by two photographers, Ansell Adams and Edward Burtynsky, both of them were very, very impressive in their different styles. After seeing the photography shows we spent hours exploring the different other galleries, each one showcasing a unique aspect of American art history. From the abstract expressionism of the 1950s to the contemporary pieces of today, the museum held a wealth of beauty and inspiration.

If you missed our March meeting, you missed an excellent presentation. Fellow member Sarah Blodgett gave a presentation about her recent travels through the Everglades and beyond. She basically took us on her journey with stops along Alligator Alley, and birding in the Everglades. There are over 360 bird species in Everglades National Park located in southern Florida. Sarah shared her many wonderful photos of birds, plants and other wildlife such as alligators and turtles. Some were taken with her Canon Mark 4, others with her iPhone and a few taken with her camera that she had converted to Infrared. Sarah is very knowledgeable about birds and provided many interesting facts. And when the lights came on, she was surprised by her daughter Grace and her daughter's boyfriend Thomas who had driven down from Maine to surprise her. Here are some photos of the meeting.
